There is no power on earth that can recuse those bent on suicide, or to persuade lemmings not to try to swim to China, but Americans must wake up to the fact that they have squandered their wealth and future and now must buckle down to save the economy. First: stop buying foreign cars

We have a toe in the maelstrom...whether it sucks us under or we manage to avoid drowning will depend on our reaction to the current facts that point to disaster...in any case, survival or drowning will be problematic

"Our woes in the manufacturing of products will never be solved until we outlaw organized labor. Unions function to extort benefits which inflate costs that manufacturers must add to production costs." I'm mildly anti-union but such a statement ignores the fact that the same human failings that infest organized labor are present in the investor/management sector. Unions are not the invention of naive and/or evil meddlers but arose out of real abuses. The same essentially political machinery that 'outlaws' organized labor can and will confisicate capital for the 'greater good'. There are no unions in China or Russia, or in any totalitarian structure. Only such a structure could 'outlaw' organized labor.

Unions function to extort benefits which inflate costs that manufacturers must add to production costs. These production costs do not exist within foreign markets competing to sell the same products.

[...] One other point regarding the tax-rebate stimulus: There is a school of thought – espoused by the folks who produced the acclaimed documentary “I.O.U.S.A.” that these rebates, by significantly slashing the government’s revenue, badly exacerbated the country’s debt burden.
Buy American, we keep our money in our economy when we buy American products. Let's get competitive with our labor and management so that we can keep industrial and manufacturing jobs here in the US. Let's work on domestic oil and alternate sources for energy so that we are not dependent on foreign oil. Let government work with the Big Three Auto makers in keeping them afloat and making them profitable. From 2002 to the present we have lost 5 million manufacturing jobs partially due to this deficit. Where do all these people work now? Keep reporting on this crisis so that the American people will rally.
