The stupidity and mismanagement of the US Auto Industry is hard to stomach. For 30 years management, year after year short term profit style was so engrained in their management model they didn't care that it could, and is sabotaging the wealth of a nation and threatening national security, as well as putting workers at risk to live at the poverty level.
My gut feeling is to punish them by making them take their own medicine which is bankruptcy. On the other hand there is so at stake for the country we have no choice to lend them the money. I sincerely hope there are some strong people in congress who will demand performance and accountability from these erstwhile cheats who run companies without brains. Additionally, One of the provisions of the loan is that GM Wagoner, including CEO's Ford and Chrysler and their staffs should agree to work for a year without pay until they they can show a turnaround in the companies fortunes
